About Us
Tantrumm Ltd started as a hobby, as all good things do, and very quickly grew into something much bigger and better. I began by helping friends find that perfect gift, and progressed to making a lot of them myself, and that was the birth of a business I can only describe as ‘growing’. Everyday presents me with new challenges and I enjoy meeting them head on, tackling them and emerging triumphant…with a gorgeous piece to gift to someone special. It has been a journey, and not one without bumps and U-turns, but an interesting one for sure! Along the way I met some wonderfully talented souls and they have joined us on our journey into what we can only describe as an adventure!
Wanting to provide everyone with the perfect gift, I made it my mission to do just that – Making the world a better place…one gift at a time ♥ In early 2014, I did just what I set out to do….I opened the flagship store – Tantrumm, Orewa….with plans to expand and grow in 2015-16. Each store will strive to help develop and expose local talent and artisans. There is a plan being structured now to ensure we will have a minimum of 6 Tantrumm stores by early 2016. We are also in discussions with a sister business in the US to export our wares so more of the world can enjoy NZ made crafts.
During my time nurturing Tantrumm I have managed to learn new skills and discover talents I didn’t know I had, as well as perfect and hone my already broad skill set. I have learned I have just one passion and that is to create something from nothing, to discover the hidden potential in something dormant. Keeping busy is what I take pleasure in, and to see the fruits of my labour go to appreciative homes makes all of the sleepless nights worthwhile. I absolutely love to upcycle anything and everything…breathe new life into something a little tired and forgotten….and I take pride in my Vintage Door Screen I refinished for the store, the Vintage Lace Doily Curtain and all of my beautifully repurposed glass bottles on display. Some of my Upcycling is for sale in-store and there is always something new to discover as I am forever on a treasure hunt.
Fast forward to 2017 and Tantrumm Ltd has taken a totally new direction….we got stuck at the roundabout and made ourselves dizzy for a bit before deciding which turnoff to take…..now we have chosen the road to take, we just need to refuel and continue our journey! We are now an “umbrella” company for some wonderful NZ brands/businesses that cover a myriad of goods & services! From shopping to home maintenance, handmade soaps to some fabulous and functional animal housing….there really isn’t much we don’t do.
I believe that it is one thing to say Made In NZ….it is another to say HANDMADE in NZ….!!!

We also continue to utilise and support fellow NZ companies by investing back into the local economy and contracting them to provide services to keep us operating safely, securely and professionally.
Everyday we work hard to ensure each and every client receives a gift that they will love, cherish and USE – not stuff in ‘that’ drawer, never to be seen again. To know that the gifts produced are welcomed as if it was made just for them. Making the occasion just that much more special and memorable.
There is always a little more to something handmade than something mass produced, a uniqueness. Each piece has a story behind it, memories to make and a lot of heart to share. Not forgetting the quality of workmanship that ensures a longer life of the product, except soap for obvious reasons…..and candy!
Because we are advocates for ‘Handmade’ there isn’t much we can’t re-produce to ensure you have exactly what you are looking for. Have a piece of furniture that needs a make-over? Need something to suit a new decor? Colour matching for your wedding? Whatever it is, we can help you get the outcome you desire.
It is through your support and custom that we can do all we can for local charities and fundraisers for those less fortunate. So the more you support us, the more we can help them! We are avid supporters of – Hospice, Paw Justice, Animal Sanctuary and anyone feeding/clothing the children. We take a stand for our youth, animals in need and the ailing….they are victims of circumstances beyond their control and we take great pride in helping where we can.
